“ Your beliefs become your thoughts.
Your thoughts become your words.
Your words become your actions.
Your actions become your habits.
Your habits become your values.
Your values become your destiny “
Mahatma Gandhi[1869 -1948]
With admiration I convey my good wishes to the Principal, Members of the Faculty, Staff and Dedicated Students of Kittur Rani Channamma Residential School for Girls [KRCRSG] on the occasion of the Hosting of the School Website: www.krcrskittur.org.I am confident this website reflects the creativity and intellectualism of KRCRSGstudents. The motto of this renowned institution is: “In Pursuit of Excellence in Education “. KRCRSGis the leading advocate of girl’s education. It was founded on the premise that girl’s schools are the most powerful and transformative emissaries of change. Rani Channamma, the Warrior Queen of Kittur who waged India’s heroic freedom struggle against the British was born in the town of Kakati in the District of Belgaum. The Queen of Kitturreceived training in archery, sword fighting, horse riding and state craft. At KRCRSGsome these exercises are put into practice. The valour, sacrifice, courage, patriotism, devotion, and indomitable spirit displayed by Rani Channammawill remain as the guiding spirit for this institution. KRCRSGcampus is spread over more than 200 acres and is situated on the outskirts of the Kittur Town. Its common goal is to provide an array of challenging and learning experiences for girls before they pursue higher education.
As a distinguished educational institution KRCRSGhas embarked on a mission to promote inquisitiveness and innovation amongst its students through the use of cutting edge technology. Young people today have an advantage simply because technology surrounds every part of their lives. Internetprovides a great deal of information from all over the world via personal computer. This allows students to do their information gathering from a single location in the KRCRSG Digitized Laboratory. This takes much of the drudgery out of their research work.
Web Technology leapfrogs itself at dizzying pace and students should not get lost in the hyperspace. At KRCRSG every precaution is taken to filter out unrelated material from students. There is ephemeral data on the web and students will use only the updated relevant information to do their research.
India can only reach its potential when its youth is fully empowered with state of the art technology both for learning and in research. This is the land of ancient Vedic Wisdom. India has the intellectual capacity to produce more geniuses like Ramanujams, Ramans, Tagores, Vivekanandas, Sens, Khuranas, Chandrashekhars, Kalams, Sarabhais, Radhakrishnans and Krishnamurthys.
What we need to do is to empower the intellect and re-jig the current education system and bring in new ways of learning and adopt the new global mechanisms and approach. It is essential to equip today’s generation with twenty first century skills to be tomorrows competitive citizens. This is precisely the reason why Kittur Rani Channamma Residential School for Girls [KRCRSG] was established more than three decades ago. At KRCRSG each student takes a remarkable journey of self-discovery, developing the essential skills that provide a competitive edge for advanced academic pursuits. In addition we instill the confidence with courage, a deep sense of personal integrity and responsibility towards themselves, others, and the environment. With firm foundation in rigorous academic and physical training program, the students at KRCRSGwill grow in age but with a multi-disciplinary, multi-lingual, multi-cultural and global outlook. They will function differently and operate on an evolved level with spirit of team work. To quote an African proverb: “…if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”. The students at KRCRSG believe in this wisdom. When they leave KRCRSGthey will be ready to face the challenges of Twenty First Century India. I am reminded of what late Robert Kennedy said: “People often see things as they are and ask Why? I often imagine things that never existed and ask Why Not”. Graduates of KRCRSG will “Accept Change, Adapt to New Technologies and Accelerate in the Why Not Zone to Achieve the Impossible”.
