Extra-Curricular Activities
Extra curricular activities to meet with eager and enthusiastic participation inspite of the very busy schedule, the children have some of them like Swimming, Horse Riding, Karate, Yoga, Roller skating are compulsory.
Riding: Riding is another favorite sport with many children. A few of them are shy of horses to start with but soon get to like them and lose their fear of them. A working stable with eight horses suitable for the training of 11 to 18 years old children, is maintained throughout the year. We have excellent horsemen who train the children and feed and groom the horse and maintain the saddlery and the paddock. A Veterinarian comes in once a month and provides veterinary cover to all our animals.
A tableu-cum-play is staged on Annual Day enacting Rani Channamma’s war with British. The scene of Channamma personally fighting off a cavalry charge led by Major Thackarey, then Collector of Dharwad, is enacted by our ‘School cavalry’.
Healthy Physique: Yoga, Karate and Roller Skating are show-piece items for the display of co-ordinated skills. Every one of these activities is conducted under close supervision by well qualified instructors of ALL India and State level standards. They guide the children step by step from the basic and elementary drills to a degree of expertise depending on individual aptitudes. A variety of personal fitness classes and holistic mind, body relaxation and training classes are conducted. This include para-sailing and Adventure courses.
Swimming Pool: It is an extremely popular sporting activity with the girls. There is a well constructed and well maintained Swimming pool of standard size, with a good filtration plant and all the latest gadgets for safety and modern coaching aids. An excellent and locally renowned coach conducts classes with great care and expertise. The response she gets from children is commendable. The pool has recently been retiled and painted and new safety ladders have been installed. Diving boards have been replaced.
Excursions: To enable the students to acquire knowledge about Indian culture and heritage, educational excursions have been organized by our school. Our School organizes class wise excursions throughout the year to the historical places such as Belur, Halebidu, Jog Falls, Shravanabelagol, Bangalore, Mysore, Goa, Gokak Falls, Godchinmalki and Hidkal Dam etc.
The Fine Arts: They are taught by experts in each field. We have an excellent and gifted drawing Master, guiding the children and developing individual aptitudes. The Kaveri Statue is the central piece of the eye-catching fountain area in front of student’s Mess is an example of the creativity of our drawing master.
Dance and Music: Dance and Music are important part of the curriculum of the school. Qualified dance and music teachers are available to train the girls in Bharatnatyam and to prepare them for “Prathama Parveshika” dance examination conducted by Gandharva Vidhyalaya, Mumbai.
The girls are also trained to perform folk dances. A cultural show is putup on festival days and national days pertaining to the importance of that day.
