Kittur Rani Channamma International School

The School

LOCATION: The site on which the school stands, is of breath-taking beauty. We are not far from NH4(2km.), about half way between Belgaum and Dharwad, but far enough to separate us from every imaginable kind of pollution that “development and progress” can produce.

SURROUNDINGS: The site on which the school stands is very beautiful. The founder Sri. Kanthikji’s selection of the site could not have been better than this, which provides a scenic beauty of the surrounding hills. The school is on a hill top which is 780 m. above sea level, on the eastern side of the Western Ghats overlooking rolling hills as far as 20 to 30 km east and west of the campus. The school spreads over 200 acres of luxuriant forest with building and playgrounds centrally located.

WILD LIFE: The wild life is plenty in the campus. There are different species of birds, Spotted deer, wild bear and of course a troop of monkeys. In the early morning, the call of the ‘Jungli Murga’, the Peacock and chirping of the birds can be heard. The children are excited especially to see the Peacock moving lazily and sometimes dancing with its feathers open. There is also the giant Homed owl which hoots at night to tell us of its presence.
